Maridoe Golf Club
Maridoe Golf Club
Next up on the list of some of my favorite golf courses is Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas. Some people may disagree with this pick as it is a very difficult course and most people don't like it because of that. I absolutely love it because of the level of difficulty and how challenging it is for any golfer that comes to play it. This course is a shot makers course and you have to be very creative to be able to play well and score it out there. That's what I love about is that is what golf is all about. The course tips out at 7800 plus yards which is an absolutely absurd distance compared to the average PGA Tour courses that play at about 7000-7300 yards. Also, Maridoe has a course rating over 80 from the back tees which means with all the difficulty factored in an even par round the course rating would be 8 over par which is absurd and shows just how difficult this golf course is. Maridoe is typically kept in great shape as it is home to a lot of professional golfers that like to sharpen their skills out there and challenge themselves. The course consists of a lot of difficult tee shots and approach shots with elevated greens on a lot of holes making chipping and pitching difficult as well so you can understand why it is such a tough course and tests every single aspect of your game. It is also very flatland without a lot of trees and has a lake as seen in the picture above that comes into play on multiple holes, but since it is so open with no blocking from trees, it can get very windy and play even more difficult than it does already.
The service out there is second to none. They have great and diligent workers that want to provide the best experience for you which is how elite clubs should be run. The people that work out there go above and beyond for the members and guests of the course which brings a lot of people back. They also have phenomenal food and one of the meals they are known for around the club is the burger bowl.
If you are looking for a challenging course to go play in Texas I highly recommend going to Mairdoe Golf Club and seeing how your game stacks up against an extremely difficult golf course.
