Bayou DeSiard Country Club is located in Monroe, LA. This was one of the most fun and interesting courses I have played. I had the privilege of playing this course in the summer when it was over 100 degrees and very humid. The course was in phenomenal shape though. The thing that makes this course interesting is the layout. The layout is like nothing I have really seen before which made it a challenge, but a fun one to play. In most courses, you can see a pattern from the architect on how he styles his courses whether that may be lots of dog legs or lots of straight holes with obstacles such as bunkers and hazards. With this course though, there is a mix of everything with a lot of different styles of holes which makes you think more. The greens are also very firm and fast making the longer holes that much tougher to be able to hit the green and get it close.

The course is very old-fashioned and has been around since 1948. Because it's been around for so long the greens are ungulated and difficult to putt on with high rough and slopes around the greens. The bunkering is perfectly done and makes for difficult short-sided bunker shots which makes them more penalizing to be in. The holes with water on them make for very difficult shots because the water is placed in a perfect position that forces you to play away from them.

The downside of the course is the fact that the practice facilities are not very good and a little outdated. The range is very small and behind it is the 10th hole, but there is a high fence around the range to try and protect golf balls from going over, since the range is so short it doesn't stop all the golf balls from getting over. So hole 10 has a lot of range golf balls all over the fairway.
